We are seeking a motivated Rail Systems Modelling Analyst to support V/Line’s mission of delivering safe and efficient rail services. In this dynamic entry‑level role, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of advanced rail systems models using cutting‑edge software like RailSys. This is a unique opportunity to engage in strategic service planning, analyse operational data, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance our rail network. If you’re passionate about quantitative analysis and ready to make a meaningful impact, we want to hear from you Key accountabilities include: Skill Development: Acquire skills to support the design of strategic service plans (timetables). Data Management: Collect, cleanse, and analyse operational data for decision‑making. Model Development: Assist in building and validating rail network infrastructure models. Statistical Support: Contribute to the development of mathematical methods and costing models. Scenario Testing: Conduct tests for infrastructure enhancements and operational plans. Continuous Improvement: Identify solutions to enhance processes and reduce costs. About you We are seeking a detail‑oriented and analytical candidate who is passionate about rail systems and eager to contribute to V/Line’s strategic service planning. You will possess a strong foundation in quantitative analysis and demonstrate the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. You will be proactive in identifying challenges and providing innovative solutions while effectively communicating with diverse stakeholders. Our ideal candidate will possess the following: Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Suite and data visualisation tools. Project planning and management experience in a complex operational environment. Personal attributes: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to navigate complex and politically sensitive environments. High resilience to meet tight deadlines.
