About the Role The Web Developer works within the Diocese Office for Media and Communications, and is responsible for leading the creation, migration, and ongoing maintenance of a dynamic, responsive new website that aligns with the Diocese’s security, branding, and content standards. This role requires a strong combination of front‑end and back‑end development skills to deliver user‑friendly, automated, and data‑driven web experiences. As Web Developer, you will also collaborate closely with the Media and Communications team and contribute to the broader mission of evangelisation, supporting the Bishop’s vision across all Mission areas. A key focus of the role involves reviewing the current Diocesan website and intranet to assess performance, usability, and design, and recommending improvements using modern web frameworks. You will support individual parish website development, enabling parishes to manage their own content, while ensuring compliance with the Diocese's branding, security, and safeguarding standards. You will provide ongoing support and troubleshooting to parishes and Diocesan Mission areas. You will also ensure that all digital assets are created in compliance with copyright laws and stored according to proper archiving protocols. You will assist colleagues across departments with website content updates and respond to requests with professionalism and efficiency. Collaboration with team members is essential to achieving shared goals and maintaining a cohesive digital presence for the Diocese. At the heart of this role will be your ability to work collaboratively with various diocesan stakeholders as it relates to Mission projects, and an openness to work with the Team as it evolves and strives to meet the needs of the Diocese. This position is a full‑time role and based at Pennant Hills. Onsite parking is available. Key Requirements The Web Developer will ideally possess the following knowledge, experience and qualifications: A personal commitment to Catholic teachings, faith, ethos, values and mission of the Catholic Church. Experience in web publishing and creative industries. Experience working with digital design, graphics, vector databases, microsites, hosting platforms, branding, web analytics and reporting. Relevant tertiary qualifications, web publishing and digital media experience. Proficiency in front‑end development and back‑end web programming languages. Advanced understanding of the difference between User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI). A thorough understanding of web publishing in particular the use of platforms that facilitate publishing, HTML and its uses, and creative tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud software. A thorough understanding of CMS platforms, in particular WordPress; Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and SQL databases. Experience in integrating AI models into web environments. Familiarity with LLMs (Large Language Models).
