Senior Ranger (Biosecurity/Health Checks) - Flexible We are looking for a Senior Ranger (Biosecurity/Health Checks) to join our Technical Support team on a permanent basis. This role will lead island monitoring programs, develop research strategies, and support "health checks" that guide conservation decisions. You will mentor staff, collaborate with Traditional Owners, stakeholders, and ensure biosecurity protocols. Role Focus Coordinate, develop, and implement region-wide island monitoring and research programs, including "health checks" to assess key environmental values. Mentor and support field staff, ensuring effective delivery of monitoring programs and adherence to biosecurity protocols. Collaborate with planning teams, QPWS senior staff, Traditional Owners, and stakeholders to guide adaptive management and conservation priorities. Contribute to conservation land management through practical experience in managing pests, native species, and fire, while fostering engagement and building productive working relationships. The role involves physically demanding activities, requiring good fitness, initiative, and a positive, enthusiastic attitude. Based in Cairns, Townsville, Airlie Beach, Yeppoon, or Gladstone, staff may be required to travel to other locations, including remote sites, overnight stays, and travel by sea or light aircraft. Qualifications Automatic/unrestricted manual driver’s licence. Formal qualifications in an environmental/ecology field are highly regarded.
