Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen at Hornsby Hospital for a suitably qualified Clinical Nurse Consultant to join the Cardiology and Respiratory Team. The position is being offered on a permanent full‑time basis. Location Hornsby Ku‑ring‑gai Hospital – Cardiology and Respiratory Ward 2D (28 beds, including an 8 bed CCU). We are a multidisciplinary team focused on person‑centred care, learning, and patient safety. Responsibilities The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert nurse who will provide leadership, advice, and recommendations on all aspects of nursing. The CNC will formulate and implement policy, guide practice development, and engage in education and research activities. The CNC is responsible for clinical supervision of nursing staff and acts as a role model, providing nursing care regularly. The CNC will work according to departmental safe work methods, guidelines, and all NSWHealth and NSLHD policies and procedures. Qualifications Registered with authority to practice with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Minimum five years of full‑time postgraduate experience, with at least three years full‑time equivalent in the specialty field. Applicant must hold an approved postgraduate qualification (minimum Graduate Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards a Masters level qualification. Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a commitment to excellence in nursing practice. Effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework. Ability to undertake quality improvement and research activities that influence and enhance clinical practice and implement change. Computer skills with experience using MS Office programs and electronic filing systems. Ability to work effectively both as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
