With 4,500+ homes and 7,600 residents supported, we bring proven scale, strong governance, and deep community commitment.As a Senior Housing Officer, you will be the go-to expert for complex tenancy matters, providing advice and support on arrears, breaches, hoarding and squalor, and tribunal or court cases. You will coordinate vacancy and allocation processes to ensure properties are ready for tenanting quickly and cost-effectively, while mentoring Housing Officers to set tenants up for success.This role also involves collaborating with support agencies and government partners, managing at-risk tenancies through early intervention, and driving compliance with policies and legislation. Your work will help create thriving communities and deliver positive outcomes for tenants.Your key responsibilities will be to:* Coordinate vacancy and allocation processes to ensure properties are ready for tenanting promptly and cost-effectively, while adhering to policies and benchmarks.* Provide specialist support to Housing Officers in managing complex tenancy issues such as arrears, breaches, hoarding, squalor, and tribunal or court matters.* Represent Mission Australia Housing in tribunal and court hearings, liaising with the legal team to ensure compliance and achieve positive outcomes.* Mentor and coach Housing Officers to build capability in managing complex tenancies and implementing early intervention strategies.* Collaborate with internal teams, support agencies, and government partners to deliver sustainable housing outcomes and integrated service delivery.* Maintain accurate data and prepare reports on vacancies, allocations, arrears, and tenancy management, ensuring compliance with legislation and organisational policies.* Engage tenants in community programs and initiatives, fostering participation and building strong, thriving communities.**Requirements for success*** Certificate IV in Social Housing or a related qualification is highly desirable.* Previous housing experience in community, public housing, or a government setting.* Experience interacting with tenants in domestic settings, including mandatory reporting requirements.* Knowledge of state-based civil and administrative tribunal processes and previous experience representing at tribunal or court.* Strong understanding of the community housing sector and the needs of social and affordable housing tenants.* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with the ability to build respectful relationships with tenants and stakeholders.* Strong organisational and administrative skills, including attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, and maintain accurate records for compliance.* Current driver’s licence, Police Check, WWC Check, and First Aid Certificate* Familiarity with client management systems and reporting frameworks.Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.**Your benefits**To ensure our employees feel valued, empowered, and celebrated, we provide a range of employee benefits including:* Rewarding work – every day you know you’re making a real difference* Not-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via )* Free external, confidential counselling and access to* Volunteering opportunities* Opportunity to purchase additional annual leave* Extra leave including: Mission Australia Thank You Day & Work Anniversary Day off**Our culture**Our innovative and inclusive culture will ensure you feel valued at Mission Australia as you help Australians in need and develop in your career.We prioritise the safety and wellbeing of everyone, both within our team and the individuals we serve.We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive working environment.
