➡️ trendenvironmental.com.au - let us take care of all your environmental approvals, monitoring, compliance and revegetation works | Queensland Senior to Principal Ecologist As a Senior or Principal Ecologist with Trend Environmental, you will take a leading role in delivering high-quality ecological services across Queensland. Your responsibilities will include: Leading and delivering complex ecological field programs, including flora and fauna surveys, protected plant surveys, offset ecological surveys, targeted species surveys, habitat assessments and Biocondition assessments. Designing survey methodologies, overseeing field teams, and ensuring high standards of data collection and safety. Authoring and technically reviewing advanced ecological reports, including ecological assessment reports, flora survey reports, offset ecological assessments, offset area management plans, ecological constraints reports and related documentation. Providing expert ecological, environmental and development approvals advice to clients across a diverse range of sectors. Interpreting and applying relevant local, state and Commonwealth environmental legislation to guide project strategy and risk management. Building, maintaining and expanding client relationships, including identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and promoting Trend Environmental’s capability to key clients. Supporting the development and mentoring of junior and intermediate ecologists, fostering technical excellence across the team. Job Requirements Minimum 6–10+ years of ecological consulting experience, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and leadership. Tertiary qualifications in ecology, botany, zoology, environmental science or related field. Demonstrated experience in leading field teams, managing project delivery, and preparing high-quality technical reports. Strong flora and/or fauna identification skills with a high level of taxonomic competency. Comprehensive understanding of environmental legislation and policy frameworks at local, state and Commonwealth levels. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice to clients. Highly organised, self‑motivated and able to work both autonomously and collaboratively. Comfortable working from home, with regular travel throughout Queensland as an inherent part of the role. The Role As a Senior or Principal Ecologist at Trend Environmental, you will operate with a high level of autonomy and influence, supporting the delivery of complex ecological projects across Queensland. You will work remotely from anywhere in the state, with frequent travel required for field programs. This is a full‑time role, however flexible or part‑time arrangements can be considered for the right candidate. Remuneration is negotiable and will be commensurate with your level of experience, capability and preferred working arrangements.
