What You'll Be Doing As an Advanced Trainee you will provide effective medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in General and Acute Care Medicine, in a complex clinical environment. Rotations are available in core general medicine, core specialty medicine, acute medicine, and non-core rotations. The precise duties will vary according to rotation. It is expected that you have at least 4 years postgraduate experience and completion of the FRACP written and Clinical examinations is preferred. St George Hospital and Health Services is an accredited, principal teaching hospital of the University of New South Wales. It is the largest hospital within South Eastern Sydney Local Health District with 627 inpatient beds. St George Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Centre and a leading centre for trauma and emergency management in NSW. It provides a full range of neurosurgical, cardiothoracic and plastic & reconstructive surgery as well as specialised general surgical services. The hospital’s proximity to Sydney airport makes it a vital service providing first response to the airport precinct. The hospital is in Kogarah, 14 kilometres south of the Sydney CBD. It is well serviced by buses, trains and major roads. The area is well known for its cosmopolitan cafes and restaurants, as well as its food and cultural markets which showcase the distinct flavours and traditions of Kogarah's multicultural community. Selection Criteria MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia. Eligible for Advanced Training in General and Acute Care Medicine, RACP by successful completion of both written and clinical examinations. Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem‑solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical team. Demonstrated competency in clinical skills including effective assessment, care planning, care provision, case management and management of unstable patients. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment using excellent clinical skills (at the required level of competency) and judgement and expertise. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with patients, their families, and medical and other health professional staff. Demonstrated commitment to General Medicine Advanced Training program. Applicants with a clear stated interest in General Medicine or Dual Training or who are already in an Advanced Trainee position in General Medicine should state this.
