Schedule Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (opportunity to possibly work Wednesdays) – 3yo Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (opportunity to not work Wed and make it a 2‑day role) – 4yo About the School John Mackenzie Kindergarten (JMK) Toorak is seeking an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic co‑educator (assistant) to join our much‑loved sessional kinder community which has over 50 years of history. Supported by our experienced Director and lead teachers this position will play a role in setting and implementing a rich learning environment for the 3/4‑year‑old children. Through play‑based learning we encourage our children to explore, investigate, imagine and invent in a child‑led/teacher‑supported program. Set within the beautiful grounds of the Toorak Uniting Church, JMK’s north‑facing mid‑century architecturally designed building comprises two large light‑filled classrooms and an expansive and recently renovated outdoor play area. Our emphasis on community engagement sees our families and local community play an important role in our learning and social activities during the year. JMK is a child‑safe organisation The Role Dedicated team of 3 staff to 22 children. VECTEA conditions in a beautiful community run sessional Kindergarten. Over 10 years of experience in the Early Childhood Field (a bonus if that experience is in sessional Kindergartens) Current experience working in a similar educator role in a kindergarten environment Place the development of our children at the core of everything you do Strong understanding of play‑based learning Proven and effective program setting, reflection documentation and report writing Co‑operative, fair and reliable team member Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) Ability to build strong relationships with both colleagues and families Maintain a high level of understanding of the Victorian Early Years Framework and National Quality Standards Our commitment to the safety of children is based on our duty of care and responsibilities to children, always acting in their best interests.
