Join us as a Community Newsletter Volunteer and help bring the vibrant world of ASRC volunteers to life Help us deliver a Volunteer Newsletter that is a friendly, informative update that shares centre news, celebrates achievements, highlights events and keeps our volunteer community connected. About the Program: Volunteer Engagement Program The Volunteer Engagement Program connects, supports and celebrates the incredible people who give their time and skills to the ASRC. The team works to create a positive and inclusive volunteer experience by coordinating recruitment, training, recognition and communication across all programs. Organisational context The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is Australia’s largest independent organization providing aid, employment, health services, and advocacy for people seeking asylum. Powered by over 500 volunteers and 200 staff, we create welcoming and inclusive environments. Our organisational values are Welcoming, Authentic, Courageous, and Collaborative. Key Responsibilities Build engaging stories that celebrate our volunteer community and share important updates. Turn information from ASRC staff and stakeholders into clear, creative newsletter content. Take photos and capture moments around the centre to bring stories to life. Communicate with different teams to gather news, updates, and upcoming project details. Research and summarise relevant sector or community news to include in the bulletin. Design and compile the weekly newsletter using Mailchimp, ensuring it is visually appealing and easy to read. Publish and share the finished newsletter, keeping our volunteer and staff community connected and informed. Work closely with People & Culture to capture stories, and share them across our staff and volunteer teams. What We’re Looking For Essential: Great communication skills and a love of storytelling A keen eye for detail and design flair Confidence writing clear, engaging copy Experience using Google Drive and basic design tools Ability to work to deadlines Desirable: Lived experience of seeking asylum Knowledge of the policy context of practice with asylum seekers visa categories/conditions, and the barriers faced by people seeking asylum in Australia Category Community Services Commitment Regular - more than 6 months Type Of Work Administration & Office Management Time Required Typical commitment is 1 shift per week from 10am - 4pm, for a minimum period of 12 months, with some flexibility. Shift day can be on either Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday. Training Police Check, Working with Children Check, Volunteer Agreement, Volunteer Training #J-18808-Ljbffr
