Join our dedicated Occupational Therapy team at John Hunter Children’s Hospital, where you’ll play an important hands‑on role in helping children reach their full potential. About the Role As an Allied Health Assistant, you will support a team of experienced and supportive Occupational Therapists providing care to children across both inpatient and outpatient settings. Our service covers general medical and surgical wards, oncology, adolescents, and both the neonatal and paediatric intensive care units, as well as a range of multidisciplinary specialty clinics. Working closely with Occupational Therapists, medical and nursing staff, and other allied health professionals, you’ll assist in delivering therapy programs, managing equipment, and creating resources that directly support children and families. Key Responsibilities Assist in the delivery of therapy activities with children in inpatient and outpatient settings. Manage and maintain the equipment loan pool, including setup and organisation. Fabricate and sew a variety of individualised items for children to support therapy goals. Support clinicians in implementing therapy programs and preparing materials. Contribute to a safe, positive, and family‑centred care environment. About You A strong focus on patients and families, demonstrating empathy and respect in all interactions. Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines. Good organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and adapt to changing needs. Additional Information To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia.
