Art Gallery of New South Wales – Sydney NSW Total Remuneration Package up to $196,557 Salary Range ($149,739 to $173,174) Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney’s Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land – the Gadigal people. The Art Gallery attracts around 2 million visitors annually and runs Australia’s largest education program with over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year. With our expanded campus the Art Gallery has a new state‑of‑the‑art building located next to our existing and much‑loved building. Providing us with close to double the exhibition space, the expanded Art Gallery enables us to share more art with more people and provide more family, learning and educational programming for all our audiences. For more information about the Gallery and our future, please visit our website About the Role Lead the development and implementation of the Art Gallery’s external and internal communications plans and activities that align with the Art Gallery’s strategic direction; that protect and enhance its brand and reputation and that inform and engage diverse audiences and stakeholders. What Technical/Soft Skills you require Extensive experience in communications management and practice within an arts or cultural organisation including issues management and complex projects. Extensive networks and relationships throughout the media sector. High level verbal and written communication skills and ability to create engaging content for a variety of stakeholders. Political awareness and sensitivity. Effective stakeholder management skills and highly developed collaboration skills. Capability to prioritise requests, successfully manage heavy workloads and exercise sound judgement under tight timeframes and high‑volume conditions. Targeted Questions Describe how you have conceived, developed and delivered a communications campaign that was successful and innovative. How did you measure success? What was innovative about the campaign? (400 words maximum) Provide an example of a significant media issue you have managed. What strategy did you use and what was the outcome? How did you evaluate what did and didn’t work?
