Sydney Hospital is Australia’s first hospital, with origins dating back to the early establishment of Sydney. Our specialist services attract patients from all over NSW. Clinical services provided are a 24‑hour Emergency Department, and an outpatient department (eyes, general and hands). Clinical wards include Eyes, Hands, ENT and General Medicine as well as the Peri‑Operative Suite. The hospital is located in the hub of the Central Business District, close to the café, restaurant and shopping precinct. Our city's famous tourist attractions such as Centre Point Tower, the Domain, NSW Art Gallery, the Botanical Gardens, Mrs Macquarie's Chair, the Opera House and Circular Quay are only short walks away. As an Assistant in Nursing in SESLHD, you will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary team in the provision of person‑centred care; and support other nurses and care roles. As an Assistant in Nursing, you will retain responsibility for your own actions and remain accountable to the Registered Nurse for all allocated functions. You will always work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will be encouraged to further develop your practice with the professional development opportunities available. Selection Criteria Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (HLT33115) or equivalent OR 2ⁿᵗʰ or 3ʳᵈ‑year undergraduate nursing student. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary health‑care team. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective time‑management skills. Computer skills including the ability to use a variety of office and health‑related software application. Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control standard precautions.
