Executive Director, Policy Reform & Evidence Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development NSW – Orange NSW High-impact, ongoing Senior Executive (Band 2) opportunity TRP from $323,627 per annum including superannuation Shape the future of public policy, drive innovation and reform Location flexible, preference for regional NSW The NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) protects, supports and develops primary industries and regional economies. As the Executive Director, Policy, Reform and Evidence, you will lead the identification, design and delivery of Department-wide strategy and policy priorities. This influential role is responsible for driving evidence-based, data-driven policy development through a comprehensive framework of research, analysis and stakeholder collaboration. Reporting directly to the Secretary and contributing as a key member of the Department’s Leadership Team, you will ensure that strategic policy and reform initiatives are well-informed, innovative and aligned with government priorities. Key responsibilities: Strategic leadership: Provide expert, evidence-based policy advice and recommendations to the Secretary, Minister and Departmental Leadership Team to inform legislative reform, Cabinet submissions and strategic decision-making. Innovation and reform: Lead the design, review and implementation of forward-thinking policy and reform programs that cut across departmental responsibilities. Evidence and insight: Oversee the development of robust research, data sourcing and analytical systems that strengthen policy outcomes and deepen understanding of regional and socio-economic trends. Collaboration and engagement: Foster strong partnerships across the Department, government agencies and the broader sector, ensuring open communication and effective consultation on key initiatives. Capability and influence: Build capability across the Policy, Reform and Evidence Group, mentor emerging leaders, and represent the Department on strategic policy matters to enhance its reputation and policy excellence.
