Executive Director, Strategy and Reform

At the Department of Housing and Public Works, you will play a key role in delivering services that have a meaningful impact on the lives of Queenslanders. This includes advancing the Queensland Government’s vision for a fair and sustainable housing system, supporting the construction sector in delivering critical infrastructure projects in the lead-up to Brisbane 2032, and empowering young Queenslanders to build a brighter future. As the Executive Director, you will lead key projects and reforms across the department to enhance performance and deliver improved outcomes for the State. This pivotal role will see you shaping and driving the department’s long-term strategic direction and adopting a whole-of system approach to achieve sustainable and impactful results. Reporting directly to the Director-General, the Executive Director will provide strategic leadership and oversee a diverse portfolio to ensure the successful implementation of the Department's and Government's reform agenda. Acting as a key interface between the department and the Minister's Office, you will deliver high quality, timely, and impartial advice to support the Government's priorities. Key Responsibilities Include Leading cross-agency collaboration and driving significant policy and strategic reforms. Providing expert advice on cabinet and parliamentary matters, media engagement, and ministerial requirements. Building and fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to influence outcomes and deliver on key priorities. Championing a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement. Mentoring and guiding senior leaders and staff to build organisational capability while promoting diversity, inclusion, and the department's core values. About You We are seeking a strategic and visionary leader with a proven track record of success in navigating complex environments and delivering impactful outcomes. You will bring exceptional leadership skills, high-level integrity, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic and evolving landscape. To Succeed In This Role, You Will Act as a trusted advisor to the Director-General, Executive Leadership Team, and the Minister, providing high-quality, timely, and impartial advice. Demonstrate exceptional judgement, a results-driven mindset, and a commitment to ethical leadership. Exhibit outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to inspire and engage others. Have a strong track record of leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, programs, and reforms that align with the Government's strategic priorities. Possess a deep understanding of strategy and policy implementation, stakeholder engagement, and service delivery in a complex organisational environment. Foster a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement, while championing diversity, inclusion, and the department's core values.
