Principal Regulatory Officer - Early Childhood Regulatory Authority Join to apply for the Principal Regulatory Officer - Early Childhood Regulatory Authority role at Queensland Department of Education . The Queensland Early Childhood Regulatory Authority regulates the early childhood education and care sector. The Metropolitan South Regional team plays an important role within the Regulatory Authority to ensure the safeguarding of children in education and care services across the Metropolitan South Region (Coorparoo Office). Position Duration: Temporary (12 January 2026 – 6 March 2027) based in the Coorparoo Office. In This Role, You Will Lead the work of the teams including the quality assurance of reports relating to the assessment and ratings of early childhood education and care services. Triage and prioritize incoming matters such as serious incidents, notifications, complaints. Undertake a range of regulatory activities, providing evidence‑based recommendations and decisions and escalating matters to relevant stakeholders. Responsibilities Included Work in a multidisciplinary team that undertakes complex regulatory activities, makes recommendations and decisions that support the Regulatory Authority to undertake its functions under the legislation and in accordance with the principles of good administrative decision making. Provide recommendations informed by data, analysis of evidence and accurate interpretation of the legislation. Prepare accurate, high-level documentation to a range of stakeholders on a range of matters relating to early childhood education and care regulation including correspondence, reports, briefs, regulatory decisions and executive recommendations. Be highly organized, agile, and manage competing priorities. Apply effective communication, conflict resolution and relationship building skills with early childhood education and care providers, services and other regulatory staff to develop and implement strategies to deliver regulatory objectives. The Ideal Candidate Will Have advanced regulatory skills, especially in the assessment and rating of early childhood services and the triaging of complaints and notifications. Have experience in undertaking complex investigations. Have experience or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the early childhood sector. Excel in administrative tasks, coordination, and reporting, ensuring high‑quality outcomes in all aspects of their work. Be adaptable and capable of working both in a collaborative team and independently. Demonstrate excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships inside and outside the organisation. It will be highly desirable for any applicants to have successfully completed and passed the R4Q Skills Authorisation Test and national Authorised Officer Reliability Test within the last 12 months.
