China Bar Darwin CBD needs skilled and passionate Cooks to join our busy kitchen. You will be working in a full commercial kitchen, preparing and cooking authentic, complex Asian dishes from fresh, raw ingredients. Key Responsibilities Prepare, season, and cook a wide variety of dishes from our extensive dine-in menu, using fresh, raw ingredients. Operate a specific station (e.g., Wok, BBQ/Roasting, Noodle, or Dim Sum) with speed, precision, and consistency. Examine all foodstuffs (meats, vegetables, seafood) to ensure quality and freshness before cooking. Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, woks, deep‑fryers, and other commercial cooking equipment. Portion food, place it on plates, and add gravies, sauces, and garnishes according to restaurant standards. Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements, ensuring no cross‑contamination. Store all food in temperature‑controlled facilities, strictly adhering to HACCP procedures. May assist the Chef in training apprentices on specific station duties. Requirements Proven experience (minimum 1‑3 years) as a commercial Cook in a restaurant setting (Asian cuisine preferred). A Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery. (Extensive, long‑term industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications). Proven skill in Asian cooking techniques is essential.
