About the location Based at our Essendon Fields head office and factory, this role places you at the heart of design-led, modular construction innovation. About the role We’re seeking an experienced Pre-Construction Lead to play a key role in driving Modscape + Modbotics’ tendering, estimating, and pre-construction activities. Reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager, this role is pivotal in ensuring that bids are strategically developed, commercially sound, technically accurate, and aligned with client expectations. You’ll act as the crucial link between clients, consultants, and internal teams, helping us secure projects that deliver value and minimise risk. Your day to day will include: Leading tender response activities including strategy, scope review, commercial terms, and final submission. Writing and developing persuasive submission narratives, executive summaries, and compliant tender responses. Managing and reviewing estimating processes, BOQs, benchmarking, and cost reconciliations. Coordinating design development from concept through to production-ready documentation. Facilitating value engineering and constructability workshops with cross-functional teams. Developing and executing procurement strategies, including subcontractor engagement and negotiations. Managing preconstruction risk registers, contingency planning, and commercial recommendations. Liaising with clients, consultants, and internal teams to clarify tender positions and present recommendations. Providing regular reporting on bid status, outcomes, and lessons learned to support continuous improvement. Contributing to the refinement of estimating templates, databases, and internal governance procedures. What you’ll bring Relevant qualification in construction, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related discipline. Extensive experience in tendering, estimating, or pre-contracts within construction or modular sectors. Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex bids. Strong commercial acumen and technical understanding of construction methodology. Excellent communication skills with experience writing compelling proposals. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and project systems. Experience in modular/offsite construction and professional body membership is desirable.
