WSLHD Mental Health Service Permanent Up to 3.4 FTE Staff Specialist Department of Rehabilitation & Recovery – Adult Psychiatry Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above positions in the Western Sydney Local Health District. Successful applicants will be working in a motivated and rewarding position within a well-established senior team, supported through high quality supervision and training. There are opportunities for supervision, consultation, presentations, and innovative research as part of the role. Successful applicants will be expected to provide admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient and on call services within the specialty as determined and required by the district. This position may involve travel within the District. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within six months may be considered. If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed. Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Essential Requirements for Appointment Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency. Must hold a current NSW Environment Protection Authority license (if applicable). Sound clinical knowledge in Acute Adult Psychiatry demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues. Excellent organisational, supervision and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships across the workplace. Maintaining and developing knowledge, skills and professional performance to the level required for contemporary practice. Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and translation of research into practice to improve patient safety and quality. Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources efficiently and contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the health care system.
