Director of Construction – EssilorLuxottica Join to apply for the Director of Construction role at EssilorLuxottica. The Store Construction Director leads the ANZ Store Development team, overseeing and coordinating all aspects of construction projects under the EssilorLuxottica banner—from inception to completion. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the delivery of refurbishments, new builds, and fit‑outs across Sunglass Hut, Ray‑Ban, Oakley, OPSM, and Laubman & Pank stores, as well as corporate offices throughout Australia and New Zealand. Trade travel within Australia is required, with overnight stays and occasional travel to New Zealand. Responsibilities Manage the Store Development team, including project management, project planning, facilities and coordination of all activities. Ensure all project budgets and estimations are based on approved architectural drawings and documentation. Review actual construction spends against forecasted amounts. Review tender documentation and award building contracts. Ensure capital allocations and approved budgets are adhered to and deliver all projects on time and within approved limits. Coordinate required building permits, inspections, and certificates. Coordinate all planning reports internally and for corporate headquarters. Project‑manage all communication to store teams, external vendors, operations team, and site‑specific stakeholders throughout the fit‑out process. Attend builder handovers and defect inspections, ensuring all defects identified are closed out within allocated timeframes. Read and review detailed drawings, understand construction plans and fabrication methods. Organise and coordinate deliveries of project materials and furnishings. Partner closely with the Senior Design Manager and Real Estate Director on all store and office related projects. Ensure the Repairs & Maintenance Facilities area delivers prompt repairs to stores to avoid any disruption to trade. Skills & Experience 5–10 years of experience in a senior project management leadership position, ideally within the retail industry. Strong prioritisation and time‑management skills. Ability to make decisions independently and in line with company policy. Pro‑actively seeks continuous improvement methods. Prior use of SAP is highly regarded; strong Microsoft Excel skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects and functions simultaneously. Stays informed of industry trends, competition and changing technology, applying new knowledge and skills to the role.
