Job Description KPMG Law’s highly regarded national team of Tax Dispute Resolution and Controversy specialists have extensive experience assisting organisations and individuals in preparing for, managing, and resolving tax disputes while maintaining effective relationships with revenue authorities. Our dynamic, growing team is looking for lawyers with experience in tax, tax law, and disputes. Candidates with over 8 years of experience in advisory, Big 4, traditional law firms or Government are invited to apply. Your Opportunity Joining KPMG Law, you will be a key part of our growing team advising a broad range of clients, from large multinationals to high‑wealth individuals. The role will involve: Working with clients in preparing for and resolving their risk reviews, audits, and disputes with the ATO, AusIndustry, and state/territory revenue authorities, including complex ATO audits, preparing objections, briefing counsel, and advising on risk reviews, audits, independent reviews, and tax litigation. Opportunity to work with clients and specialists across KPMG Law and KPMG to develop written and oral advocacy skills and provide legal advice (including taxation and administrative law). National work across all jurisdictions with partners and members from different states. Collaboration with other specialist groups within KPMG’s Deals, Tax & Legal practice in Australia and internationally. How Are You Extraordinary? Your Experience Previous experience in corporate tax, international tax, tax law, and/or tax dispute resolution and controversy in a Big 4 professional services firm, a law firm, or the Australian Taxation Office, with prior Big 4 experience viewed favourably. Ability to quickly establish high‑level stakeholder engagement and hold the role of an advisor to the business and be an expert on topical areas of tax law. Ability to integrate information from diverse sources, consider the broader impact of issues and how it will affect the project, engagement, and business. Strong interpersonal, influencing, and project management skills, along with ability to motivate and work as part of a high‑performing team to achieve outcomes. Ability to enable career progression for high‑potential people by identifying development needs and providing guidance and knowledge to assist those people to further increase their skill set. Ability to lead on people initiatives, role‑modeling our values in all aspects of work. An honest and ethical approach to business, which will provide a natural fit with our values. Australian and/or other Commonwealth country legal experience. Qualifications You must have a Law Degree to be eligible for this role.
