Business Development Director at New Edge Group COMPETITIVE SALARY + SUPER (commensurate with experience) New Edge Group is a Tier 1 Electrical & Mechanical Design & Construct Contractor delivering large-scale commercial and industrial projects across Victoria and nationally. We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our Melbourne estimating team — helping to shape the future of New Edge Group's next generation of projects. The Role: As an Electrical Estimator at New Edge Group, you will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and detailed tenders for complex electrical projects. You’ll work closely with our engineering and delivery teams to ensure every submission reflects New Edge Group's reputation for quality, precision, and professionalism. Key Responsibilities: Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities for electrical works. Review drawings, specifications, and scopes to identify opportunities and risks. Produce accurate take-offs using multiple software-based systems. Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations. Conduct site inspections to gather project-specific estimating data. Maintain an organised record of correspondence and documentation, including tender information, cost plans, and pricing libraries. Contribute to tender reviews, pricing strategies, and submission documentation. Assist management during tender interviews and presentations. Prepare early budgets and cost plans from preliminary designs. Support project handovers, ensuring seamless transition to delivery teams. Promote and uphold New Edge Group's Core Values and commitment to safety at all times. You are commercially astute, detail-driven, and confident operating in the Tier 1 construction environment. You understand what it takes to produce sharp, professional tenders and thrive on the challenge of major projects. You are an effective communicator and team player. Your Qualifications and What You Will Bring to the Table: 3+ years’ experience in electrical estimating (commercial and/or industrial), cost analysis, and tender preparation. Strong understanding of electrical systems, Australian Standards, Codes, Regulations & Risk Assessments. High proficiency with estimating software and Excel-based cost models. Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and project specifications. Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills. A proactive, adaptable, and solution-focused approach. Proficiency in negotiations with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients. Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
