We are a major player in the Life & Health reinsurance market in Australia and New Zealand and we have the benefit of being small and nimble but with the financial backing of one of the largest reinsurers in the world. We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Life & Health subsidiary in Sydney which plays a major part in the success of Hannover Re globally.
We are seeking a Business Analyst (Data Governance) to join our team. The role will be a fixed term contract to December 2025 reporting directly to our head of Operations.
Key Responsibilities
About the role
As a Business Analyst (Data Governance) you will be responsible for supporting the business and data lead in research, analysis and documentation of business needs in support of Program Phoenix.
Your day may look a little like:Researching and drafting internal policies as well as assisting in developing and delivering solutions within required timeframesTranslating business requirements into detailed documentation and reporting whilst participating in completing risk assessments alongside the Project ManagerPreparing internal and external reports and assisting in the creation of pre-project documentation such as business casesAssisting in maintaining risk register, mitigation suggestions, updating risk ratingContributing to technology solutions from assessment to implementation and rolloutCoordinating or completing efficient testing of deliverables to ensure they meet the documented requirementsProviding regular feedback to stakeholders in weekly/fortnightly/monthly discussionsEffectively managing expectations from stakeholders around solution delivery and scope ensuring timely communication with all partiesConducting reviews of current business processes and suggest improvements where applicable.Delivering training to internal staff on developments and projects with supporting documentation.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You will need to have:
Demonstrated Business Analyst experience working in Data Governance for a minimum of 3 years, including writing policies and proceduresSound understanding of Data Governance principles and its applicationUnderstanding of Data management and Data quality is advantageousTechnical knowledge of tools and methodologies used for requirements gathering, documenting and reportingExperience coordinating and / or completing efficient testing on developments to ensure they meet the requirements and objectivesBusiness Process/Business Change Modelling capabilitiesIntermediate Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skillsProfessional qualification in related field will be well regardedStakeholder management skillsStrategic thinking capabilitiesExcellent organisation, attention to detail and ability to prioritise effectivelyClear and effective communication, both written and verbalStrong analytical and problem solving skillsAbility to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
