This role requires hands on experience, strong knowledge and experience in cryogenic systems, as well as excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently. Cryogenic systems include Air Separation Units, Cryogenic vessels, Cryogenic Pumps, Vaporisers and Piping. Essential Functions / Responsibilities Provide expert onsite technical guidance and support to customers on the installation, operation, and maintenance of cryogenic equipment and systems. Identify and diagnose issues with cryogenic systems, utilizing advanced troubleshooting techniques to ensure efficient problem resolution while minimizing downtime. Perform routine and scheduled maintenance activities on cryogenic systems, including inspections, calibration, and replacement of components or parts as necessary. Respond to customer requests for on‑site repairs promptly and effectively, utilizing appropriate tools, equipment, and resources to ensure timely resolution of issues. Conduct training sessions for customers on the safe and proper operation of cryogenic equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with OEM and industry standards and regulations. Prepare timely field trouble reports, maintain accurate and comprehensive service records, including equipment history, repair reports, and customer interaction details. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for both yourself and customers during service visits. Stay updated with the latest OEM technological advancements and industry trends related to cryogenic systems through ongoing training and self‑development, applying this knowledge to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction. Perform corrective maintenance tasks at customer sites as required. State‑wide, interstate, and occasional overseas travel. Mechanical competency: pipe fitting, valve operating, instrumentation basics, industrial maintenance, pump understanding and repairs. Technical expertise: the ability to learn, understand and apply specialized knowledge of cryogenic systems, equipment, and processes, including proficiency in operating and maintaining cryogenic equipment. Problem‑solving skills: capable of analysing complex technical issues and providing effective solutions in a timely manner, with strong diagnostic skills and ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems independently. Safety focus: strong commitment to safety by adhering to established protocols, procedures, and industry standards, prioritising safety and promoting a culture of safety consciousness among the entire team. Communication skills: excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective and efficient communication with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders; convey technical information to non‑technical individuals clearly. Qualifications Trade qualified to a minimum Certificate III. Australian Driver’s License. Working at heights – desired. Confined space – desired. First Aid – desired / will be provided. Work primarily in customer sites as well as shop environments as needed. Experience 1‑2 years’ experience with cryogenic / oil & gas / industrial gas equipment; pump / motor experience a plus. Field service experience highly desirable. Experience with onsite repairs, installations and overhauls preferred. Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing issues. Experience in planning and organising field service activities, including equipment inspections and preventive maintenance. Physical Demands To perform the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls. Use standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, printers, copiers, etc. Work in both office and shop environments at customer and company sites. Overtime, and on call may be necessary as the work load's dictates. This may include weekdays, weekends, nights and/or holidays, and travel required up to 80% to meet customer needs. Travel and extended stays at customer work sites. Conditions may vary at each location yet are essentially the same as listed. Job will generally be performed at customer site, or in shop environment and generally requires travel to a client’s office, production facility or industrial/construction job site. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply. A valid driver’s license is required, and candidates may be required to show a clean driving abstract for travel between the facility locations and client offices as required. Ability to perform effectively in high stress situations. Candidates cannot have issues with heights or confined spaces. Safety Complete safety training requirements. Participate in other training as directed by the company or manager. Wear Nikkiso approved PPE as needed. Ensure all safety requirements and PPE requirements are enforced with others as appropriate.
