About the Role The Underwriter plays a key role in supporting the underwriting team by assisting in the evaluation and analysis of risks, processing, and maintaining detailed documentation. This position is ideal for a motivated individual seeking to rapidly advance their career in insurance underwriting. You will work closely with an experienced underwriter and the Head of Property to develop essential skills in risk assessment and decision-making. Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to) Work closely with the team to manage the renewal cycle of ocean accounts. Assist and understand evaluation of the current portfolio, ensuring strategy is implemented. Be guided by your colleagues through negotiations & underwriting decisions. Policy issuance and cycle management (including Alterations) of documentation. Ensuring accurate documentation capture within the underwriting platform. Assist underwriters with file management. Assist the company with accounts management (managing unpaid, late or incorrect payment) Communication Liaise with brokers, agents, and internal teams & management. Assist in preparing correspondence and recommendations for senior underwriters. Be responsible for reporting on the renewal portfolio on a monthly basis (with guidance) Process Improvement Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the underwriting process, particularly finding efficiency through technology. Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and company underwriting guidelines. Professional Development Participate in training sessions, mentoring and workshops to enhance underwriting knowledge and skills. This will come from internal and external sources which include Claims TPA and Risk engineers (surveyors) with onsite client visits. Engage with other insurance lines within ocean to expand your understanding of products. Grow your understanding of the importance of data and technology for informed decision making.
