Professor of Palliative and End of Life Care Flinders University of South Australia – Bedford Park SA Research (Academic) Level E | $212,873 p.a. View Position Description About the Role As a member of the Research Centre for Palliative Care, Death and Dying, the Professor will play a key leadership role through collaboration, capacity building and advancing cross‑disciplinary research activity as well as strengthening and exploring new partnerships with relevant internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent will advance the College and RePaDD in its reputation as a Centre of excellence in palliative care, death and dying research, both nationally and internationally. The role is also responsible for: Making an outstanding and distinguished contribution to research and engagement through original and innovative research, obtaining substantial competitive external research grant and contract income and producing publications in high quality journals, at a sustained level, and delivering high quality presentations in their field of expertise. Providing expertise and leadership in ethical, high quality and innovative research. Providing mentorship to and development of early and mid‑career researchers, and supervision of Higher Degree Research students. Undertaking guest lecturing in areas of expertise to inspire and encourage students and colleagues to engage in further study and/or undertake research. About You You bring substantial experience in a senior academic or leadership role, with a proven ability to translate research into meaningful policy outcomes. Your track record demonstrates a strong and sustained research profile (relative to career stage), with a focus aligned to the research strengths of RePaDD. This includes high‑quality publications where you’ve held lead or senior authorship, as well as success in securing competitive research grants and tenders. A confident and effective communicator, both written and verbal, you possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders across national and international contexts. In this role you will also be able to demonstrate: Completion of a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Experience and successful track record in supervision of higher degree students. Use independent judgement and initiative, under minimal supervision, to manage, organise and coordinate activities required for the functioning of a research‑intensive unit. Experience in developing and maintaining links with industry and effective research collaborations.
