Your new role We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Investment Analyst to support our Insurance and Liability-driven Investor Client Segment and our Fixed Interest Research teams. This role plays a key part in providing world-class investment strategy advice, conducting detailed analysis, and contributing to multi‑manager portfolio research and construction. Key Responsibilities Include Defining, analysing and solving complex institutional investor challenges including considering investment and other risks to capital requirements. Carrying out statistical stochastic analysis (asset‑liability modelling) to assist JANA in providing tailored asset allocation advice for our clients. Assisting Senior Consultants with the optimisation of investment portfolios for risk, return and capital requirements through detailed quantitative analysis. Sourcing quarterly security‑level data from global and Australian fixed interest investment managers, carrying out quality tests on the data, and collating the data for providing to APRA‑regulated insurance clients to assist those clients with their APRA returns and capital requirements. Interpretating APRA guidance for life, general and private health insurers and carrying out associated APRA asset risk charge calculations. Preparing monthly and quarterly investment performance reports for clients. Attending insurance and liability‑driven client investment committee meetings to present investment performance reports and investment strategy recommendations. Supporting fixed income manager and market research, including attending and documenting manager meetings, conducting portfolio assessment, analysing strategy returns including attribution, and other qualitative/quantitative research tasks. Providing analytical input into reporting systems and client materials. Contributing to broader investment forums, research notes, asset class reviews, and portfolio construction discussions. About you This role is well suited to someone who is analytical, curious, and passionate about investment strategy. You will ideally have: A Bachelor of Actuarial Studies and Bachelor of Commerce or similar. Significant progress (i.e. Part 1 and Part 2 subjects) towards completing the examinations to qualify as an Actuary (AIAA) and an intention to continue with the Fellowship programme. A minimum of two years’ experience in asset management, investment consulting, or a similar environment. Strong quantitative capabilities and experience working with data, modelling, or fixed income research. Strong analytical, mathematical and statistical aptitude. Experience analysing actuarial valuation reports, including analysis of surplus and sensitivity analysis, and carrying out asset liability modelling analysis. A good understanding of key fixed interest and credit asset classes and how insurance and liability‑driven investors typically utilise these assets. Ability to manage multiple data sources, with an interest in coding/programming for automation (including any of R, SQL, Python and VBA). Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, including experience presenting complex financial and investment data to institutional clients. A proactive, problem‑solving mindset and strong attention to detail. This position is Permanent Full‑Time and based in our Sydney office and reports to the Senior Consultant / Head of Insurance.
