Job Summary Based in Melbourne and reporting to the Head of Hardware, we are seeking a proactive and skilled Support Engineer. This role acts as the key technical bridge between our R&D, Production, and Field teams. Your core responsibility is to facilitate seamless knowledge transfer and manage the R&D‑to‑Production handover . This involves translating complex engineering data into clear work instructions, optimizing process flows, providing expert technical support to clients and field staff, and developing comprehensive service and training documentation. You will also conduct critical QA tests and relay field performance data back to the engineering teams. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem‑solver with a strong manufacturing or engineering background and excellent communication skills. Key Responsibilities: New Product Handover Ensure all relevant documentation (work instructions, test procedures, custom jigging) is complete prior to handover from Engineering to Production. Adjust process flow and work instructions to make them suitable for the production environment. Proactively update BOMs and other manufacturing materials to streamline production. Process Improvement Identify opportunities for process improvement in efficiency, quality, repeatability, and simplification by working closely with production technicians. Refine, develop, and review work instructions as needed. Identify, design, and implement jigs and fixtures to aid production. Collect data related to MEQ system performance in the field and provide feedback to relevant teams. Engineering Support Provide remote and in‑person support to clients and field technicians. Build and maintain documentation for servicing and commissioning MEQ equipment. Translate complex engineering documents and drawings into easily understandable packets for non‑technical personnel. Build and roll out training documentation to facilitate inter‑departmental upskilling. Quality Assurance Create and maintain detailed reports for critical QA parts and systems. Determine and document test procedures. Conduct critical QA tests to ensure all MEQ products meet the highest quality standards. Qualifications & Experience: Education: Bachelor of Engineering (Production, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.). Experience: 3+ years in a comparable role, such as Engineering design, support engineering, or production engineering. Production Skills: Must have experience in production environments with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and field service/maintenance. Systems: Experience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory management software. Technical Skills: Experience using CAD software (e.g., Solidworks, Fusion 360, Onshape). Knowledge of AC and DC electrical design. Prior quality control experience. Soft Skills: Excellent communication and organizational skills. Strong analytical skills. Ability to multitask and handle complex, time‑sensitive situations. Flexibility: Ability to travel (interstate, intrastate, and international) and work outside normal hours at times. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and process improvement strategies. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory management software. Experience/Exposure to firmware design and programming (C++, Arduino). Experience working with Australian and international standards. Knowledge of material science and selection.
