Project Manager – Security Operations (SOC) Role: Project Manager – Security Operations (SOC) Contract: 12-Month Contract (+ extension) Location: Melbourne preferred (open to Sydney) | 3 days in office Start: ASAP About the Company Our client is a well-established, large-scale enterprise currently undertaking a significant cyber security uplift program. With a strong focus on transformation, resilience, and operational enablement, the organisation is modernising its security operations capability and investing heavily in long-term uplift. The Role We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Operations – Project Manager to provide critical leadership across a 12-month engagement, with likely extensions. You will play a key role in overseeing the stabilisation and uplift of a recently outsourced Security Operations Centre (SOC), acting as the primary conduit between internal stakeholders and the managed service provider. This role operates in a dynamic, evolving environment and requires someone who can cut through complexity, operate effectively in ambiguity, and keep delivery moving forward. Key Responsibilities Lead the transition and stabilisation from an in-house SOC to an outsourced SOC provider Drive SOC capability uplift, including incident response, detection, and response maturity Oversee improvements to Microsoft Sentinel, including log ingestion, use case development, and validation of operational effectiveness Manage and deliver data security–related projects within the broader security uplift program Coordinate across internal security operations teams and multidisciplinary delivery teams (architects, engineers, cyber business analysts) Work within Agile delivery environments, managing delivery through JIRA Manage relationships with senior stakeholders, including the Head of SOC, and external managed service partners Provide clear direction, foster collaboration, and confidently navigate difficult conversations to ensure outcomes are achieved To Succeed in This Role, You Will Bring Strong experience in Security Operations, particularly leading SOC transitions (in-house to outsourced) Demonstrated expertise in SOC uplift projects Experience with uplifting SIEM platforms (ideally Microsoft Sentinel) Experience working in Agile environments, with strong working knowledge of JIRA Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, including external vendors and consultancy partners Proven ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, complex environments and drive clarity Desirable: Microsoft Azure, E5 licensing, and Zscaler, and data security project experience What’s on Offer 9-12 month contract + extension High-impact role within a major cyber security transformation program Flexible working environment (3 days in office) Opportunity to work alongside a strong internal team and leading external partners How to apply Click apply or submit your CV to for a 100% confidential, informal conversation where your privacy will absolutely be respected.
