Overview This role is remunerated at SCHADS 3.3 ($ per hour + superannuation + salary packaging benefits) and is a full‑time opportunity until June, based in Rockhampton / Gympie / Hervey Bay / Emerald. We are seeking an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peer Coordinator to lead a culturally grounded, community‑connected approach to suicide prevention within the TRISP program. This identified role values lived experience, cultural authority and strong community connections as essential to providing safe, meaningful and strengths‑based support. The Identified TRISP Suicide Prevention Peer Coordinator will focus on building connection, cultural safety and coordinated support for people experiencing distress. This role strengthens and integrates community responses to distress and suicidality by expanding referral pathways, promoting education and training and supporting culturally grounded, community‑led approaches to safety and wellbeing. About the Opportunity As the Peer Coordinator, you will draw on your own lived experience of suicide distress, loss or recovery as well as your cultural knowledge with an understanding of local protocols, ways of knowing, being and doing. You will help create culturally safe, welcoming pathways for community to engage, while supporting a peer‑led model that is trauma‑informed, non‑clinical and centred on hope, self‑determination and recovery. Your Role & Responsibilities Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Bring a lived experience of suicide distress, bereavement or recovery and use it safely and purposefully in this peer role Hold cultural knowledge, cultural authority or community connection relevant to supporting local people Strong communication skills and ability to engage across diverse community settings Passionate about elevating cultural strengths, community leadership and holistic approaches to wellbeing Qualifications & Experience Pre‑employment requirements: NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate, National Police Records Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check Desirable: Relevant qualifications or experience in working in the mental health or community services sector, generally Certificate IV qualification (Health / Mental Health, / OR Diploma / Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work) Lived experience of suicidality or suicide bereavement Right to work within Australia What we will offer you Paid Cultural Leave An equitable, diverse, and socially inclusive work environment Salary packaging up to $15,899 Meal and Entertainment allowance via salary packaging up to $2,650 per annum Receive 17.5% leave loading every time you take annual leave Paid parental leave after 12 months of ongoing employment Access for you and your family to our Employee Assistance Program We would love to learn about you and your own journey so please submit a cover letter outlining your relevant lived experience and resume.
