Team Leader

Departmental / Operational key responsibilities : The Team Leader in the Freight Forwarding warehouse will be rostered to operate a forklift in the bonded freight forwarding warehouse moving air or ocean freight in transit or when loading or unloading freight for freight forwarding clients. The Team Leader will oversee the work of the Forklift Operators in this area, specifically they are responsible for : Ensure that all aspects of the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA), RACA and Department of Transport & Regional Services (DOTAR's) requirements are followed for every export air shipment. Ensure that the procedures governing the TAPA and DOTAR's regulations are fully understood and followed. for every export air shipment without fail Build export freight pallets including specialist racking Serve customers collecting or delivering freight Break bulk and store freight in appropriate warehouse area Ensure work area is kept clean and orderly Ensure prompt and efficient recovery of freight from cartage contractor Deliver or load export freight to airport or contractor Load and unload ocean freight and air freight containers Ensure freight is stored and handled in such a manner as to minimise loss or damage Ensure freight is checked into warehouse and break down process done in a prompt and orderly manner. Complete weekly bond check for outstanding freight Ensure prompt and accurate export lodgement to airlines Liaise with Export Department on equipment and loading requirements Unpack ocean / air freight containers as required Follow all Dangerous Goods Handling procedures correctly Competencies and Skills required : Strong Customer Service skills Knowledge of relevant legislation Excellent communication skills, highly service orientated.
