Senior Data Scientist – Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) AI Solutions As a Senior Data Scientist within the Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) AI Solutions team, you will assist in the development, monitoring, implementation, and management of models supporting our journey of transforming the practice of banking for Institutional Clients. From applying Generative AI to better support knowledge and decision‑management functions, to activating agent‑oriented AI design patterns to automate and drive results, you will be familiar with the latest and most exciting patterns in AI and Data Science development. What you will do Work closely with key business stakeholders in the Institutional Banking & Markets division (IB&M). Apply Generative AI, agents, and AI to drive decisions, optimise outcomes, and improve financial performance for Australia’s large corporations and institutions. Design, develop, test, and deploy AI models that support banking operations and decision‑support. Mentor junior team members and foster a positive, inclusive culture. Communicate with senior stakeholders to develop use cases and champion AI solutions. We are seeking people who are Passionate about building market‑leading commercial applications that utilise state‑of‑the‑art generative AI techniques to improve work productivity and provide the best customer service. Excited about tackling new, challenging business problems in AI. Adept at using a combination of commercial and technical AI models to find unique solutions that add strategic value to the business. Constantly thinking outside the box and breaking boundaries to solve complex data science problems using generative AI methods. Tech skills Generative AI hands‑on delivery experience: Demonstrated hands‑on experience as a senior data scientist, with successful applications of generative AI in production settings. Experience applying generative AI concepts or building prototype applications. Proficiency in using large language models (LLMs) for various business applications. Applied experience in multi‑agentic generative AI frameworks such as Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, LangGraph, or OpenAI Responses API (or equivalent frameworks). Expertise in AI including prompt engineering, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), design, and safety guardrails. Experience or strong interest in developing and deploying generative AI or AI models on cloud infrastructure such as AWS. Cloud platforms: Preferred experience using AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, or Microsoft Azure OpenAI platforms. Practical experience in Institutional banking products (lending, transaction banking) or financial markets products and relationship‑driven business models preferred. Strong communication skills, you will be engaging directly with senior stakeholders and develop use cases together with them. Tertiary qualification in Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
