Key Responsibilities 1. Food Safety and Compliance (Crucial) Enforce all local, state, federal, and company Food Safety Programs , including HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) , GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) , and any GFSI standards (e.g., BRCGS, SQF). Manage and monitor the Cold Chain , ensuring strict temperature control of chilled and frozen storage areas, and documenting temperature logs according to regulatory requirements. Oversee sanitation and hygiene programs, including master cleaning schedules and pest control systems, to prevent contamination and infestation. Develop and execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) for product traceability and rapid response in the event of a product recall. Act as the primary contact for all food safety, regulatory, and third-party quality audits. 2. Operations and Inventory Management Apply strict inventory management principles, including FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and FEFO (First-Expiry, First-Out) , to minimize spoilage, waste, and shrinkage of perishable goods. Supervise all receiving and shipping, ensuring that incoming food product quality (including packaging integrity and temperature) is verified before acceptance. Optimize the layout and material flow within temperature-controlled environments to maintain efficiency without compromising the cold chain. Manage the proper storage of incompatible materials (e.g., allergens, raw ingredients, and finished goods) to prevent cross-contamination. 3. Leadership and Team Management Train, mentor, and certify all warehouse personnel on essential food safety practices, including personal hygiene, allergen handling, and proper use of PPE and cold-weather gear. Promote a strong safety culture (both personal and food safety) within the team. Manage staff schedules and performance to maintain peak efficiency in a demanding, sometimes low-temperature environment. 4. Facility and Equipment Maintenance Oversee the regular maintenance and calibration of all critical equipment, especially refrigeration/freezer units, thermometers, and monitoring systems. Ensure all material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) is properly inspected and maintained for safe use within food handling zones. Qualifications Required: Proven experience (e.g., 3-5 years) managing operations within a food, beverage, or perishable goods warehouse environment.
