Job Description We are seeking an experienced engineering leader to drive the design, development, and delivery of advanced control systems for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This role offers the opportunity to take full ownership of projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring safe, secure, and compliant operation of cutting‑edge energy storage solutions. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in integrated systems design, controls, and cyber security, combined with proven leadership in guiding cross‑functional teams. This is a high‑impact position at the forefront of the energy transition, shaping the architecture and performance of next‑generation BESS technologies. Responsibilities Lead the design and development of integrated control systems for BESS projects, taking ownership from concept through implementation, testing, and commissioning. Define system architecture, control strategies, safety systems, hardware, software, network components, and cybersecurity for BESS projects. Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and system specifications, incorporating inputs from multiple subsystems. Document systems design and development processes, creating technical documentation, quality artifacts, and user manuals. Develop and execute test plans throughout the project lifecycle and perform system‑level testing to validate control system performance, safety, and security to customer, industry, and regulatory requirements. Lead technical reviews and provide guidance to project teams on design decisions. Stay up to date with industry trends and advances in battery energy storage technology. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical or ICT Engineering or related field. Outstanding technical expertise in SCADA (mandatory) and additional proficiency in integrated systems design, controls, cybersecurity, and safety systems (preferred). Demonstrated leadership within engineering expertise without direct people management, with a proven ability to thrive in diverse, cross‑functional teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards for battery energy storage systems (e.g., UL 9540, IEEE 1547) is ideal. Willingness and ability to complete all necessary background verification checks. Full Australian work rights.
