About the Role – Make Safety Your Purpose That Counts As a Protection Officer, you’ll play a critical role in keeping our rail network safe by managing site access and implementing safety protocols. The role includes: Setting up SafeWorking protection and managing access to rail sites Completing essential documentation for allocated sites Working both independently and as part of a supportive team Operating across South East Queensland—from Varsity Lakes to Gympie Our initial 6‑week training program is essential for your success; leave during this period is unavailable. Plan and implement track authority for work groups accessing the corridor. Physically implement in‑field safety equipment ensuring compliance with processes and procedures. Create and develop SafeWorking protection plans, detailed work plans and relevant documentation. Provide confident, supportive direction to staff at worksites on or near the track. Deliver effective safety briefings on worksites with multiple stakeholders. Be a source of information and knowledge to assist work groups with important updates. What We’re Looking For Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to manage deadlines and priorities effectively. Intermediate computer skills and familiarity with safety systems. Physical capacity for track walks (up to 8 km) and handling equipment (up to 20 kg). A genuine interest in safety and supporting a strong safety culture.
