About the role As a Protection Technician, you will work as part of the test and commissioning team on high‑voltage substation projects, ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery. This role involves performing protection system testing, assisting with commissioning activities, and supporting outage planning and execution. You will collaborate closely with engineers and project teams to maintain compliance with technical standards and safety procedures. Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and a commitment to delivering accurate results are essential to contribute to successful project outcomes. Key Responsibilities include Accessing and utilizing all required documentation, recording asset information accurately during pre‑commissioning activities. Performing primary and secondary testing on HV equipment, including insulation resistance, winding resistance, and functional checks. Configuring battery chargers, LV power meters, and automated control systems as per commissioning instructions. Conducting protection device testing and verifying settings for earth fault, overcurrent, and backup protection schemes. Executing telemetry tests with SCADA and ADMS teams to ensure system integration and communication. Carrying out cable fault prevention and investigation using advanced diagnostic techniques and tools. Completing outage‑related tasks, including energization of secondary circuits and interlock checks. Investigating and reporting faults on DC systems, interpreting alarms, and restoring correct configurations. Collaborating with engineers and project teams to maintain compliance with safety standards and technical requirements.
