ROLE SCOPE We are searching for an accomplished and driven Principal Civil Design Engineer to lead our expanding Melbourne team. This senior leadership position blends hands‑on technical expertise with operational oversight, guiding the successful delivery of civil design infrastructure projects while fostering a culture of excellence. In this pivotal role, you will oversee project outcomes, strengthen client partnerships, mentor and develop emerging engineers, and champion the growth of our footprint across the Melbourne market. With significant skin in the game with a compelling equity share ACCOUNTABILITIES Lead and oversee the successful delivery of civil design engineering projects from initial concept to final handover, with a primary focus on subdivisions, ensuring outcomes are high‑quality, on schedule, and within budget. Guide, mentor, and support a team of engineers, designers, and drafters, cultivating a collaborative environment built on technical excellence and continuous improvement. Drive business growth through active involvement in client engagement, bid preparation, tender submissions, and proposal evaluations. Provide expert technical leadership and design oversight across a diverse portfolio of civil design projects, including roads, stormwater systems, earthworks, land development, and infrastructure. Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver seamless project execution and exceptional client experiences. Contribute to strategic planning, resource allocation, and the long‑term expansion of our Melbourne operations. Maintain strict adherence to Australian Standards, local authority requirements, and company quality management procedures. THE PRINCIPAL CIVIL DESIGN ENGINEER PROFILE Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory); Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or eligibility is highly regarded. Minimum 10+ years’ proven experience in civil engineering, with a strong track record in design, project delivery, and leadership. Demonstrated success in leading, managing, and mentoring high‑performing engineering teams. Strong client relationship skills, with experience in business development, tender preparation, and bid management. Connections and networks with land developers highly regarded. Exceptional communication, organisational, and stakeholder engagement capabilities. In‑depth knowledge of Victorian civil engineering standards, guidelines, and approval processes. MRWA certification or working towards it in sewer and water design, essential for subdivision approvals.
