WASTE AND RECYCLING ATTENDANT – HAMILTON ISLAND Are you a hands-on, safety-focused professional looking for a sea change? Reporting to the Public Facilities Supervisor , you’ll play a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, sustainability, and environmental standards of the island. This role involves operating garbage collection and hook trucks, managing recycling and general waste, and contributing to continuous improvements in waste management across the island. Why you’ll love working with us Work with a skilled, close-knit team - be part of a professional and collaborative workshop culture Live in paradise -enjoy island living plus everyday essentials like a grocery store, school, gym, medical centre, post office, and even our own airport Enjoy incredible perks - subsidised furnished staff accommodation, discounts on dining and island activities, ferry concessions and more Easy to get to - fly direct from major cities Where you’ll make an impact Safely operate garbage collection and hook trucks for general waste and recycling materials Manage the compaction of general waste and assist in improving recycling systems across the island Operate loader, forklift, cardboard baler, and oil separator equipment Liaise with island departments to ensure timely and accurate waste collection and deliveries Complete required paperwork and administrative tasks accurately Maintain cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of vehicles and equipment Support environmental and sustainability initiatives as directed by the Supervisor or Public Facilities Manager What we’re looking for You’re a proactive team player who takes pride in keeping environments safe, clean, and sustainable. You’re physically fit, safety-conscious, and reliable, with a commitment to maintaining high operational standards and contributing positively to island life.
