Datacentre Infrastructure Engineer – BT Group Join to apply for the Datacentre Infrastructure Engineer role at BT Group . An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role. You will be based in London, Cheltenham or Ipswich. This is an onsite, full‑time role (Monday‑Friday 9am‑5pm) requiring DV Security Clearance, which necessitates having lived in the UK for 10+ years. What You’ll Be Doing Providing architectural direction for datacentre infrastructure technologies across a large platform, primarily for virtualisation components and potentially encompassing storage and backup components Engaging across the wider infrastructure engineering team to understand use cases and requirements for virtualisation and storage technologies Collaborating with technical architects and security leads to ensure compliance with design standards and security requirements Documenting processes and procedures required for deployment, maintenance and operational use of infrastructure Championing the use of automation and orchestration capabilities to promote efficiency and improve working processes Essential Skills IT Infrastructure Architecture/Design Data Centre Infrastructure Systems Integration Troubleshooting Automation scripting Mandatory Qualifications Familiarity with virtualisation stacks such as VMware or Proxmox Experience with one or more of the following areas: Deployment or administration of VMware Cloud Foundation Administering vSAN clusters Knowledge of NSX‑T or NSX Federation Preferred Qualifications Ansible automation experience Experience with external storage solutions such as NetApp or Dell EMC Knowledge of backup and recovery technologies such as Veeam or Netvault Understanding of backup and disaster recovery strategies Experience providing 3rd line support to operational environments Benefits Competitive salary 10% on target bonus (dependent on country) BT Pension scheme – minimum 5% Employee contribution, BT contribution 10% 25 days annual leave (not including bank holidays), increasing with service Flexible benefits including cycle to work, healthcare, season ticket loan World‑class training and development opportunities From January 2025, equal family leave: 18 weeks at full pay, 8 weeks at half pay, 26 weeks statutory rate – for all parents Enhanced women’s health support – menopause, cancer screenings, period care, etc. 24/7 private virtual GP appointments for UK colleagues 2 weeks paid carer’s leave Option to join BT Shares Saving schemes Discounted broadband, mobile and TV packages Access to 100+ retail discounts including the BT shop We are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace where everyone can be their best.
