Head of Faculty - Visual Arts and TAS (Technology & Applied Studies) The Head of Visual arts & Technology is responsible for delivering effective, engaging, and evidence-based instruction within the Visual arts & Technology Key Learning Area. This includes fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry across junior and senior levels. Teachers are expected to support the College ethos, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to student wellbeing and academic success. Responsibilities Teaching and Learning Deliver lessons in line with the IB and NESA curriculum. Plan, assess, and report on student progress in accordance with College guidelines. Conduct practical investigations safely and effectively. Differentiate learning to meet individual student needs. Integrate digital technologies to enhance learning. Curriculum and Assessment Design and evaluate teaching programs using relevant data and based on linking the NESA outcomes to International Baccalaureate framework. Develop learning materials that reflect current scientific understanding. Support students in internal and external Visual arts & Technology assessments. Professional Engagement Engage in professional development and College-based training. Collaborate with Visual arts & Technology department staff and across faculties. Maintain teaching accreditation and meet IB/NESA standards. Contribute to the wellbeing and support of all students. Participate in College co-curricular and community events. Promote student participation in activities and competitions. Contribute to Islamic events and planning Abide by the schools Islamic ethos including dress code and respect Attend school Islamic events that are implemented in the school calendar Staff management Provide leadership and guidance to Visual arts & Technology staff to ensure consistent, high-quality teaching and learning practices. Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement. Facilitate individual and team-based professional development aligned with faculty and College priorities. Mentor and support early career and developing teachers to build confidence, capability, and pedagogical skill. Coordinate faculty meetings to ensure effective communication, planning, and alignment with curriculum and assessment goals. Oversee staff performance processes, including regular check-ins and informal performance conversations. Foster a collaborative and positive faculty culture where professional dialogue, innovation, and shared practice are encouraged. Support staff in implementing differentiated strategies to meet diverse student learning needs. Ensure all faculty members comply with College expectations, curriculum frameworks, and professional standards. Selection Criteria International Baccalaureate experience NESA-accredited teacher with teaching experience. Demonstrated classroom management and communication skills. Commitment to Islamic values and the College’s mission. Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance. Experience teaching in IB World Schools. Familiarity with inquiry-based and STEM learning. Postgraduate qualifications in education or Visual Arts & Technology.
