Find out more about our school by visiting Peel Language Development School or Schools Online The Role PLDS is seeking an experienced and motivated Speech Pathologist and/or qualified Teacher with a competent understanding of speech and language delays and/or difficulties to work in the role of Speech and Language Consultant. The successful applicant would be supported in their professional development, knowledge of evidence-based practices, the Western Australian curriculum and areas of interest that will support the service. The PLDS Speech and Language Consultant will be based in Port Kennedy and will work as part of a collaborative team of Teachers and Speech Pathologists. PLDS and Speech and Language Consultant provides support to mainstream schools within the South Metropolitan, Southwest and East Kimberley regions. Our service provides consultations and professional learning to educators in the areas of speech, language and literacy development, predominately Kindergarten to Year Three. Strong Information Technology (IT) communication skills are highly desirable, especially using Microsoft Office knowledge. As our service continually seeks to improve how we support educators and the wider community in improving their knowledge and practices, we are seeking a proactive participant who embraces change and innovation and has strong research and development skills. A genuine interest of the school community and our PLDS Business Plan is ideal. Our team travels regularly within the service region, both for consultations and with regional trips planned ahead of time with team members’ availability always considered. Some flexibility is appreciated, as travel may occasionally include overnight stays therefore applicants should have a valid driver’s license and their own vehicle, however this is not essential. Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner to provide specialised speech, language and literacy support to educators. Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing speech, language and literacy for students with speech, language and literacy difficulties and disorders. Demonstrated highly developed oral and written communication skills, including considerable experience in developing and effectively facilitating professional learning. Demonstrated highly developed negotiation, consultation and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build collaborative partnerships with a range of people across settings.
