About the Role Checkbox is a Sequoia‑backed legal technology company on a mission to enable meaningful work for all. As a Senior Platform Engineer (AUS), you’ll join a small, high‑performing engineering team that builds an AI‑powered platform that powers our world‑leading intake and workflow automation product. You’ll play a critical role in evolving our core architecture, ensuring our systems are scalable, reliable, and built for rapid iteration. Responsibilities Collaborate within a small, growing cross‑functional team (engineering, product, design) to ideate, design, and deliver features that power the Checkbox platform. Lead and contribute to the design and implementation of scalable systems and APIs, ensuring maintainability, observability, and operational resilience. Guide technical discussions, run design reviews, and mentor other engineers through code reviews and pair programming. Continuously improve our CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, and developer experience to accelerate delivery and maintain high standards of reliability. Champion engineering best practices—testing, monitoring, secure and efficient cloud deployments—balancing velocity with quality and pragmatism. Contribute to the evolution of our architecture as we scale our product, infrastructure, and teams. Qualifications 5+ years of professional experience operating and scaling global application platforms using Kubernetes. Deep understanding of cloud architectures and paradigms from containers and serverless to event systems and streaming and experience with at least one of the big cloud providers. Solid programming foundations in Go and TypeScript. A love for automation, scripting, and building tooling. An understanding of tenancy and data segregation. A good working knowledge of the entire stack, from the browser all the way down to the operating system in a modern cloud environment. Comfortable designing and owning complex systems end‑to‑end—from ideation through delivery and monitoring. Pragmatic and adaptable—focus on delivering customer value, navigating ambiguity, and iterating quickly while maintaining quality. Effective communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment and values shared ownership of outcomes. About You 5+ years of professional experience operating and scaling global application platforms using Kubernetes.
