Key Venues Communications and Events Officer Blacktown City Council is actively recruiting for a Permanent, Full‑Time Communications and Events Officer for its Key Venues section. This role reports to the Coordinator Customer Experience. About Key Venues The Key Venues unit oversees aquatic and leisure centres, delivering first‑class activity and programme choices. It promotes Blacktown as a leader in sport and recreation, delivering safe, memorable experiences for visitors and customers. About the Opportunity This full‑time, permanent position is ideal for an experienced and highly motivated individual with a passion for sport and leisure. Responsibilities include developing and delivering messaging across written, digital and social media platforms to raise public awareness and encourage visitation, participation and event hire. Position Purpose Assist the Coordinator Customer Experience with day‑to‑day media, PR, promotions and communications. Develop, coordinate and deliver key publications, advertising, newsletters and communications materials. Raise public awareness of Key Venues facilities to encourage casual and regular visitation and programme participation. Liaise with Council’s Public Relations and local media groups to maintain consistent messaging. Prepare media releases, newsletters, articles, speeches and promotional material, and create digital/social media posts. Coordinate Blacktown Venue Management (BVM) advertising requirements and develop BVM communication strategies with implementation plans. Design promotional aids to grow BVM business and ensure compliance with promotional standards. Maintain effective media relationships to support program development and service promotion. Assist in generating awareness of Key Venues and ensuring the section meets its objectives and goals. Provide high‑quality environments and support for overall BVM success. Essential Qualifications and Experience A relevant tertiary qualification. Suitable experience in a similar communications or events role. Current Class C driver’s licence. Remuneration and Benefits Starting salary of $1,408.84 per week. 35‑hour working week with Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight. Entitlements and benefits in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement, including 12% employer superannuation contribution, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts and access to social clubs.
