The Child Protection Counselling Service is seeking a skilled and compassionate Counsellor to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team on a temporary full-time or part-time assignment at Lemongrove Community Health Centre.As a Child Protection Counsellor, you will provide trauma informed therapeutic intervention, crisis support, and case coordination to children, young people, and their families that are referred through statutory child protection pathways. What you will bring to the role a) Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or b) Degree in Psychology with full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, c) Counselling qualification with ACA L3-4 registration (Australian Counselling Association) or PACFA Clinical Registrant status (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia); d) Sydney University's Aboriginal Qualification Pathway - Graduate Certificate in Human and Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) Demonstrated high level understanding of the dynamics, intersection and effects of child abuse, neglect, sexual abuse and domestic and family violence. Demonstrated and extensive experience in carrying out assessment and case management activities and in providing specialist counselling to children and families with proven ability to make independent professional judgements about case planning and clinical management of a complex client group. Demonstrated extensive experience in delivering best practice models for working individually and systemically with children, young people and adults who have experienced trauma and abuse including experience in holding an overarching trauma informed framework. Demonstrated experience working with people who have experienced interpersonal and intergenerational trauma. Demonstrated high level experience/knowledge of Child Protection statutory systems, reporting responsibilities and health role in recognising and responding to child abuse and neglect. Experience in and commitment to, working with individuals and families from indigenous backgrounds and/or diverse cultural backgrounds. Current driver's licence and willingness to use for work purposes. This may include driving long distances across the LHD.
