What you'll be doing As a Child and Family Counsellor , you will provide targeted and specialised health care that supports the health, development, and wellbeing of children, young people, and families across the community. Using a whole-of-family approach, you will help address emotional, behavioural, and developmental concerns to strengthen both individual and family functioning. Deliver intake, assessment, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Provide individual, group, and family counselling services. Collaborate with families to develop care plans and review treatment goals. Facilitate parenting education and skills programs to build capacity and confidence. Work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care. Essential Criteria Qualification: Tertiary qualifications in Social Work; Psychology or Counsellors with a minimum Bachelor degree in counselling or a related field, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer and eligibility for registration with the Australian Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (ARCAP), as defined within the NSW Health Service Health Professionals Award; Registration: Eligibility for membership of Australia Association of Social Workers; or eligibility for registration with the Australian Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (ARCAP), as defined within the NSW Health Service Health Professionals Award; or Current Full Registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Selection Criteria Demonstrated clinical skills in working with children, Adolescents, families/carers and individual adults to provide psychosocial assessment, family assessment, care plan formulation, intervention and counselling in relevant clinical settings Experience in and/or knowledge of systemic approaches to provide family focused therapies and parenting interventions. Demonstrated knowledge of perinatal mental health, child development, infant attachment and application in child and family clinical settings. Demonstrated understanding of trauma informed care and best practice when working with individuals and families with identified vulnerabilities. Demonstrated experience in assessment and management of client risk issues related to mental health, self-harm, suicide, domestic and family violence and child protection concerns using a range of preventative and therapeutic strategies. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and work with families from differing socioeconomic and /or culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds to achieve client outcomes and goals High level of written clinical documentation skills with demonstrated competency in using computer based applications including electronic health records. Demonstrated excellent time management and organisation skills to provide timely and appropriate services and meet workload expectations.
