Senior Case Worker – Leaving Violence Program Posted on November 12, 2025 Job location at Darwin Remuneration: Salary $100,776.00 to $105,340.56 per annum (dependent on experience). Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 8:15am – 4:30pm, Friday 8:30am – 4:00pm Employment Type: Full-time fixed-term position (subject to further funding – current funding ends June 30, 2026) Superannuation: 12% Leave Entitlement: 6 weeks per annum plus 17.5% leave loading Reports To: Team Leader – Leaving Violence Program Special Measures: This position is identified for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is intended to constitute a special measure under section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and section 57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996 (NT). We are the only victim‑based Aboriginal legal service in remote communities in the Top End region of the NT. We have offices in Darwin (Larrakia land), Katherine (Jawoyn, Dagoman and Wardaman land) and Nhulunbuy (Yolŋu land), and service over 40 remote communities within the Top End region spanning from the Tiwi Islands down to Lajamanu, Wadeye and across to Borroloola. We provide culturally sensitive legal advice, assistance, representation, and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Top End communities who have experienced domestic, family, and sexual violence. We offer the unique opportunity to work collaboratively alongside client support officers and case workers, which are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identified roles, to ensure that our service is culturally safe and holistic. This holistic and culturally appropriate model of service sets us apart, seeking practical community‑based solutions to the most complex legal problems. Our primary practice areas are family law, child protection, and domestic violence; though we frequently intervene in coronial inquiries, parliamentary inquiries, and other administrative or criminal proceedings as required. ROLE OVERVIEW NAAFLS is leading the delivery of the Leaving Violence Program – Top End Regional Trial and we are looking for experienced senior case workers to deliver culturally safe supports to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experiencing family violence. The NAAFLS Leaving Violence Program will provide Indigenous people across the Top End with better access to practical and financial support to leave family violence. Our program will be culturally responsive to empower people to develop their own plans to leave violence safely. The NAAFLS‑led Top End Regional trial forms part of a national expansion of the LVP with trials run concurrently in Cairns, Broome and Dubbo. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Work within the Leaving Violence Program providing up to 12 weeks of case management support for eligible participants. Complete risk and safety assessments to determine eligibility for the program and identify other referral and support needs. Contribute to intake processes and assessments to determine eligibility for the LVP. Offer high‑level, culturally sensitive support and information to clients, respecting their cultural needs and background. Help clients create safety and support plans within the Leaving Violence Program framework, ensuring their safety and wellbeing are prioritised. Support clients to achieve goals identified in their safety and support plans, including spending the Leaving Violence Program financial packages in a safe and responsible way. In collaboration with the Team Leader, assist in the supervision, support and mentoring of the case work team. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date client files and input data into NAAFLS’ electronic systems in a timely and organised manner. Assist in developing and refining internal processes and procedures to ensure consistent, effective service delivery to clients. Support a safe working environment by adhering to and promoting NAAFLS’ Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) policies and procedures. Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, enhancing collaboration and service outreach. Actively engage in regular file review meetings, ensuring case progress and compliance with NAAFLS’ policies and procedures. Engage in professional development and training in consultation with the LVP Team Leader. Undertake regular travel to remote communities across NAAFLS service area. Undertake other duties as reasonably directed. SELECTION CRITERIA Ability and willingness to undertake a certificate or higher‑level study if required. Demonstrated experience in delivering culturally safe, trauma informed and strength‑based services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence. Proven ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, demonstrating strong relationship‑building and advocacy skills. Capacity to provide culturally appropriate services that are tailored to meet individual client needs. Willingness to use cultural knowledge and expertise to shape and improve service delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. Ability to work independently and support and mentor case workers. Demonstrated capacity to work flexibly and possess the ability to manage competing demands. Ability to accurately record information in client databases and proficiently use Microsoft Office suite. Availability to undertake overnight travel to remote communities. Must obtain a Working with Children Clearance (WWCC) and a clear Criminal History Check. Possess a current ‘C’ Class NT Drivers Licence.
