FOR MORE INFORMATION: Please visit Department of Families, Fairness and Housing Victoria | Jobs ( THE ROLE The Disability Justice Coordinator supports people who have a disability and are involved in the criminal justice system. They assess and coordinate forensic disability supports for a forensic disability client based on their needs, risks and goals and advocate for any other support they require through other universal service systems. The coordinator helps clients understand the court process, conditions of bail, parole and/or their orders and coordinates access to interventions to reduce their risk of reoffending and behaviours of concern that increase that risk, improve their quality of life and support community safety. The coordinator seeks to maximise the forensic disability client's access to the NDIS through advocacy and liaison with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), as well as secondary consultation with NDIS service providers to enable the person's forensic disability needs to be appropriately addressed. ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE Coordinate support and services for clients involved in the justice system according to the allocation by the team leader by providing a comprehensive approach to decreasing the likelihood of the client reoffending. Implement complex and advanced assessments, justice-based plans and reports, goal-setting, monitoring progress, and referrals. Operate as required by legislation and departmental standards, exercising the appropriate authorities and legal delegations pursuant to relevant legislation. This includes the implementation review of justice related plans, programs and services and ensures an appropriate standard of care, supervision, safety and support is provided.
