Overview Architect - Data Engineering role at Slalom is a data-focused consulting position within a globally distributed practice. The role focuses on designing and delivering modern data solutions in collaboration with clients, leveraging cloud data platforms and analytics tooling. What You Will Do Work in small, collaborative teams to design and deliver innovative solutions on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform using core cloud data warehouse tools, distributed processing engines, event streaming platforms, and other modern data technologies. Build the next generation of data platforms and work with forward‑thinking organizations in data and analytics. Understand the client’s current environment and challenges, and their plans for evolving future state architecture. Facilitate working design sessions with Slalom and client technical teams to drive strategy, architecture, and implementation of a data engineering solution using your architecture expertise and consultative skills. Describe the pros and cons of solution designs and guide the team to a consensus between Slalom and the client. Break down complex development tasks and ensure timely, high‑quality completion of items assigned to you and the team, aligned to the technical solution designed. As time allows, participate in pre‑sales activities, helping define an approach to solve a prospect’s technical challenges and assisting the business development team with project estimation and planning. What You Will Bring Broad architecture experience with deep expertise in one or more data engineering technologies, a client‑facing mindset, curiosity, and a willingness to experiment to meet data challenges. Self‑starter with ability to break down large problems and share learnings within projects and the broader Slalom community. Hands‑on experience with data platforms and programming languages, including: Big Data Platforms (Apache Spark, Presto, Amazon EMR) Cloud Data Warehouses (Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery) Object Oriented Coding (Java, Python) NoSQL Databases (DynamoDB, Cosmos DB, MongoDB) Container Management Systems (Kubernetes, Amazon ECS) Streaming Data Ingestion and Analytics (Amazon Kinesis, Apache Kafka) Modern Data Workflows (Apache Airflow, dbt, Dagster) Our Values Our culture and values reflect each individual Slalomer.
