The Role As an Education Support Teacher, you would play a pivotal role in providing quality education to students with diverse learning needs. You will develop and implement Individualised Education Programs (IEPs) and Individual Transition Programs (ITPs) for students, and provide support and accommodations to help them succeed academically and socially. Experience in supporting students with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention‑Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), physical disabilities and mental health conditions will be highly regarded, as will evidence‑based and trauma‑informed practices. The successful applicant should be student‑ and relationship‑focused, highly motivated, innovative, and able to work effectively in a team environment, as well as display an engaging and energetic teaching style. Applicants who can adopt inclusive and restorative practices, and build positive relationships with students, staff, and the community, are encouraged to apply. The ability to establish and maintain effective communication with parents and caregivers is highly desirable. We are currently working to refine our processes and approach to working with students with disabilities and additional learning needs. The successful applicant would be critical in providing input into that work, and, where appropriate, supporting students to experience success in mainstream classes. They would also utilise their expertise to work with staff in ensuring that the learning needs of DRS‑funded students are being met.
