We have two distinct Consultant Psychiatrist roles available—choose the setting that best aligns with your clinical strengths: Inpatient – Acute Care Team Join a dedicated general adult inpatient unit providing specialist care for acute presentations, including psychosis, mood disorders, and complex crises. You’ll work alongside another Consultant Psychiatrist, lead a team of four junior doctors, and deliver high-quality, person-centred care in a recovery-focused environment. Community – Continuity & Collaboration Prefer community-based psychiatry? Become part of a multidisciplinary team managing a broad spectrum of adult mental health conditions, from acute episodes to chronic illness and trauma-related disorders. You’ll provide clinical leadership and collaborate closely with another Consultant Psychiatrist to support long-term recovery. The Health Service This region’s public health service spans approximately 11,300 km² of coastal and hinterland NSW, serving around 226,000 residents—projected to grow to over 240,000 by 2031. It oversees seven hospitals (including a major campus in Coffs Harbour recently upgraded with a new emergency department, additional beds and theatres) alongside twelve community health centres. A recent health workforce boost saw 25 junior doctors and 28 new nurses join the local hospital, while services include integrated adult mental health across both inpatient and community platforms, Aboriginal health clinics, chronic care, immunisation, youth and child services.
