Family Support Coordinator - Blackwater State School and Blackwater North State School The family Support Coordinator will work with classroom teachers, school support staff and families across the two schools of Blackwater State School and Blackwater North State School to establish safe and positive patterns of attendance. You will assist the school team to support children and families, successfully transition from early childhood services to formal schooling. Who We Are Blackwater State School Blackwater State School (Prep-Year 6) offers a warm, caring learning environment with a focus on respect, responsibility, effort, and safety. The school delivers a rich curriculum across literacy, numeracy, science, humanities, and the arts, tailored to engage students through differentiated teaching and open, well‑maintained outdoor learning spaces. With small‑class settings in air‑conditioned rooms and a strong emphasis on student wellbeing and positive behaviour, the school builds confidence, resilience, and a sense of community. Blackwater North State School Situated in the coal‑mining town of Blackwater, Blackwater North State School serves students from Early Childhood through Year 6, emphasising inclusive education with a dedicated Special Needs Program. The school provides specialist teaching in PE, music, arts, and Japanese, alongside differentiated learning and intervention programs tailored to student needs. Its modern, accessible facilities include air‑conditioned classrooms, computer labs, a multi‑purpose court, and a hall, fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment. Responsibilities Implement structured and long‑term collaboration with a diverse range of external partners to drive positive outcomes for families and children, engaging them successfully with learning and strengthening relationships with parents and carers to facilitate improvement in student attendance, behaviour, and engagement. Work with classroom teachers, teacher aides and specialist support staff to understand the child's needs and connect families with services such as health, therapeutic and developmental interventions to support engagement with learning. Build and sustain positive relationships and effective partnerships with students, parents, school staff, government agencies and community services and provide expert input into decision‑making processes to ensure optimum outcomes for children and their families. Bring expertise into school communities about vulnerable children and families and their needs to facilitate engagement in learning and improved learning outcomes.
